Together, YMCAs in Canada help over 1.2 million young people of all backgrounds and circumstances grow in spirit, mind, and body. From preparing preschoolers for kindergarten to helping young adults land that crucial first job, the numbers and voices below describe some of the difference we made this year.

  • 50% of Canadian YMCAs work with their local First Nations communities, a pattern of collaboration formalized this year in our partnership agreement with the Assembly of First Nations.
  • 96% of YMCA child care parents reported in a national survey that the YMCA's Playing to Learn curriculum prepared their children well for kindergarten.
  • 1,700 young adults completed career-track internships.
  • 3,000 students benefited from You Can Go, a program offering supportive advice to young people facing barriers to post-secondary education.
  • 2,800 teens worked or studied a language in another region of Canada through YMCA exchange programs.
  • 7,100 teens and young adults pursued leadership training through Youth Leader Corps, Leaders In Training, and camping programs.
  • 1,300 students suspended from school received counselling and support through the YMCA's Alternative Suspension program to address the root causes of their suspension.
